Grounded Solutions Network – Grounded Solutions Network is a national organization deeply invested in local communities. We’ve been working on inclusive housing issues for 10+ years.
Policy Link – Policy Link is a national research and action institute dedicated to advancing economic and social equity. It focuses on policies affecting low-income communities and communities of color.
U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development Policy Areas – HUD’s efforts support a variety of interrelated policy areas, such as affordable housing development and preservation, community and economic development, environment and energy, fair housing, health and housing, ending homelessness, homeownership, rental assistance, and supportive housing and services.
Affordable Housing Design Advisor – The Affordable Housing Design Advisor brings together experience and ideas from successful affordable housing projects all over the country, and the people who developed, designed and built them.
Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access – The Visitability Initiative is just one of IDEA’s projects. The IDEA Center is dedicated to making environments and products more usable, safer and healthier in response to the needs of an increasingly diverse population.
National Low Income Housing Coalition (LIHIS) – The National Low Income Housing Coalition is dedicated solely to achieving socially just public policy that assures people with the lowest incomes in the United States have affordable and decent homes.
NYS Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) – The Division of Housing and Community Renewal is responsible for the supervision, maintenance and development of affordable low- and moderate-income housing in New York State.
Low-Income Housing Grants and Financing
RUPCO Homeownership Center – RUPCO’s NeighborWorks® Homeownership Center has HUD-certified housing counselors to guide and support homebuyers and homeowners in making informed decisions based on their homeownership needs.
RUPCO Grants for First-time Homebuyers – RUPCO works with local municipalities and other resources to assist eligible low-income, First-time buyers with their home purchases in certain areas.
Ginnie Mae – Ginnie Mae makes affordable housing a reality for millions of low- and moderate-income households across America by channeling global capital into the nation’s housing markets. Specifically, the Ginnie Mae guaranty allows mortgage lenders to obtain a better price for their mortgage loans in the secondary market.
Renter Resources and Assistance
Kingston Housing Authority – The local Ulster County government agency/office administers affordable low to moderate income housing for seniors, low-income families, and people with disabilities. Get help with deposits, first months rent, section 8, and finding safe, yet affordable and decent housing.
Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO) – Organization whose mission is to create and develop affordable homeownership and rental opportunities, create understanding and acceptance of affordable housing initiatives, and to foster development and revitalization for a diverse community within Ulster County.
RUPCO Emergency Assistance Programs – RUPCO receives funding from the United Way of Ulster County and other sources to assist with security deposits, one month’s rental arrears, or rental assistance.
Supportive Housing Services
Family of Woodstock – Family of Woodstock is a multi-program human service agency providing services throughout Ulster County. The organization offers housing and/or rental assistance for victims of domestic violence, homeless individuals and families, and teens.
Senior Housing Assistance
Ulster County Office For The Aging – Seniors can learn about housing, rent, and electric bill options and assistance programs.
Senior Advisor – People can locate senior housing and communities around New York with several sorting options like distance, ratings, and different accommodations. Each listing includes user reviews and photos, too.
Tenant Protection Assistance
Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, Ulster – The organization provides high-quality counsel in civil matters for low-income individuals and families and other vulnerable persons who do not have access to legal representation to maintain their basic needs. Support services include free or affordable landlord/tenant dispute resolution and eviction assistance is another service offered for low income individuals, seniors, disabled, and others. Attorneys can help individuals struggling with their landlord for issues, including evictions, unsafe living conditions, and illegal leases.
City of Kingston Landlord-Tenant Mediation Program –The Landlord-Tenant Mediation Program offers free and confidential assistance from a trained, neutral mediator for landlord/tenant conflicts in Kingston. The mediation process is designed to resolve conflict without having to escalate disagreements to Housing Court.
